| Competition Details Thanks to the success of last year's inaugural Music City Songwriting Competition, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau is again conducting this world-wide search for the best original song and is partnering with Phil Vassar, XM Satellite Radio, Jack Daniel's, GAC, Southwest Airlines, Universal Records South, f.y.e., The Music Group International, American Songwriter magazine, and Renaissance Nashville Hotel to make it all happen. The winning songwriter will be flown to Nashville to receive a single-song publishing contract and be featured and interviewed on "GAC Nights" with host Suzanne Alexander. The winning song will be performed on Great American Country TV. See the full list of prizes here. Entries will be narrowed down to the top 25 which will then be judged by a panel of top names in the Nashville music industry, including Universal Records South recording artist Phil Vassar, Grammy-winning songwriter Tim Nichols, ASCAP's Mike Sistad, Songwriter Stephony Smith, The Music Group International’s Alex Torrez, GAC's "Country Across America" host Storme Warren and Nashville CVB President, Butch Spyridon. Judges will rate each song based on the following criteria: melody, composition, originality, lyrics and, most importantly, commercial appeal. Submit your song. |
